A Fresh Start in 2025

A Fresh Start in 2025

January 22, 2025

It’s a new year and that means an opportunity for a fresh start! Any fresh start reminds us to re-visit routines that may have been overlooked last year. This includes routines related to your first aid and AEDs.

It’s a great time to review your user manual and the AED programs you have in place, to make sure your place of business, home, or public space is ready, if an emergency occurs. It is crucial that the AED is ready for rescue when needed.

AED Maintenance Essentials

To get started, check the following on your Defibtech AED:

  • - Is the Active Status Indicator light flashing green?
  •
  • - Are the electrode pads plugged in and within expiration date?
  •
  • - Is the battery within its expiration date?
  •
  • - Has the 9-volt battery been changed recently? (if applicable depending on your AED model)
  •
  • - Is the AED stored in a place where it is clearly labeled and ready for deployment?
  •
  • - Is the AED stored per manufacturer specifications?
  •
  • - Does the AED appear to be undamaged and ready for use?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, our team is here to help you. For help with a Defibtech AED, call Customer Service at 866-333-4248 or email techsupport@defibtech.com as soon as possible. We will be happy to assist you.

Along with the maintenance of the AEDs, now is a great time to review your current Emergency Action Plan. An Emergency Action Plan is critical as it outlines the steps and responsibilities that your team will undertake if a cardiac arrest occurs. It is important to review your EAP often and update it as needed.

Although AEDs are simple to use and are often good at letting you know if something is wrong, it is important to know how to check the AEDs and properly maintain them.

Together, we can work to help save lives from Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Here’s to a well-prepared start to the new year!
